The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School field hockey team opened its home schedule, Tuesday, against arch-rival and perennial Eastern Athletic Conference power Bishop Stang of North Dartmouth.

The Vineyarders maintained possession for long periods in the Spartans end of the field, but could not find the finishing touch in a 3-0 loss.

Goalie Jen Lee stopped two good Vineyard shots and earned the shutout for Stang.

Islanders Kendall Robinson and Maggie Johnson made several forays into the Stang end during the second half, to no avail.

M.V. plays at EAC rival Somerset on Thursday, and hosts Needham at MVRHS on Saturday at 10 am.
