Award-winning songwriter Kathy Moser will present a concert featuring music by and for people in recovery and their families and friends, on Saturday, June 22, at 7 pm at Alex’s Place at the YMCA of M.V. in Oak Bluffs.

The performance will explore the challenges and joys of recovery in a high-energy, fun, and interactive concert, according to a press release. Ms. Moser is a national touring artist noted for her poetic lyrics, driving guitar style, and light-hearted stage presence. She’s been called a cross between Joni Mitchell and Snoopy, deep but goofy. She wanders through genres from folk to funk and back.

For the past five years, in addition to her songwriting career, she has been performing and leading songwriting workshops in alcohol and drug treatment facilities across the country, including Cuttyhunk. You can learn more about her work by tuning in to local radio station WCAI at 9 am on Thursday, June 20.

Also appearing will be special guest Bethel Steel, who was just chosen as a finalist for the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition.

Alex’s Place is a multi-media teen and community center located inside the YMCA of M.V.

Tickets are available at the door. Admission is $10, $5 for 25 and under and $5 for anyone living in a halfway house. For more information visit For more information on Katy Moser, visit
