To the Editor:
With the advent of the winter solstice, we truly become, in the words of the late (?) Count Dracula, “Children of the Night.” Our sunset on the December 21 is at 4:13 pm. This is because we are at the extreme eastern edge of the Eastern Time Zone. If we were in Ironwood, Michigan, at the extreme western edge, sunset would be at 5:17 pm. Think about what we could do with that extra hour of daylight in the afternoon, or even better having daylight to 10 pm in the summer.
Now, I have no idea how to get us into the Atlantic Time Zone, but it might make a good project for someone to work on.
