To the Editor:
The town of Tisbury has done a great job on all the back street sidewalks, also Main Street and State Road sidewalks. However I find it odd that the much walked areas between Boch’s lot and the gas station opposite the Net Result, on Beach Road, and Net Result to Five Corners, are so difficult to travel. One side has telephone poles and privet hedge taking up the sidewalk, and in light snow, the opposite sidewalk has un-navigable heaps of snow.
When the ferries come in, I have seen people pulling luggage on the road, not on the sidewalk, especially in summer, parents with small children have to troupe singly along the road, because there is no room to walk on the sidewalk in pairs.
I feel that Tisbury, such a welcoming township, could do much better to make pedestrians feel safer on that particular stretch of road.
