Brian Fraser scored a hat trick to lead the Martha’s Vineyard varsity boys hockey team to a 6-1 Eastern Athletic Conference (EAC) win over host Bishop Stang Saturday in New Bedford. Emerson Mahoney chalked up a goal and an assist for the Vineyarders (9-3-1, 4-1 EAC) who rebounded after losses to Framingham and Coyle Cassidy. Austin Morley scored and Joshua Forend netted his first varsity goal.
The Vineyarders can gain some redemption and book a place in the state tournament with a win Friday at the CDL Arena in Raynham against EAC archrival Coyle Cassidy. The puck drops at 2:30 pm. The Warriors handed the Purple a 4-1 loss January 29 at the MV Arena.
The boys have a busy schedule in the week ahead. After playing Coyle Cassidy, the team travels to Nantucket Saturday and Somerset Berkley on Wednesday.
The game against Bishop Feehan originally scheduled February 5 at Aleixo Arena in Taunton was postponed due to weather. The game is tentatively rescheduled for February 13.
