The Save the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee will host a tennis tournament at the Chilmark Community Center this weekend to benefit the restoration and relocation of the lighthouse. Play begins at noon on Saturday and Sunday with several divisions in men’s, women’s, and kids doubles. Each set of doubles players is guaranteed two matches, and there will be prizes awarded to the winners of each division.
Divisions for the tournament include: Women’s A Doubles (combined rating of 7.0 or higher); Women’s B Doubles (combined <7.0); Men’s A Doubles (combined 7.0 or higher); Men’s B Doubles (combined <7.0); Kids Doubles (13 and under).
Players interested in the tournament who do not have a partner are encouraged to sign up. The committee will find partners for any players who sign up as a single, according to a press release.
There is a registration fee of $100 per player for adults and $50 per player for children. Register online at the Save the Gay Head Lighthouse website (gayheadlight.org) or at the Chilmark Community Center tennis shack. The registration fee benefits the lighthouse. Registration closes on Friday, July 18.
