To the Editor:
It is interesting and heartening to read about planned improvements to our down-Island towns. However, it would be best if we considered practicality over charm.
Cobblestones in Oak Bluffs? Cute and charming, but potentially hazardous. Consider those who use walkers or canes or are in wheelchairs. Can you imagine them trying to negotiate over cobblestones? Having had knee surgery twice, I am mindful of the hazards I encountered temporarily. Better we even out the sidewalks to avoid pitfalls, eliminate potholes (with cyclists in mind), and continue to plan for our brighter future!
