Stan Dutton, a 2010 Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School graduate who now lives in Jamaica Plain Boston, competed in a Revolution Powerlifting Syndicate (RPS) competition on Saturday, October 11. Competing in the 165-pound weight class, 23 and under age division. Stan, 22, achieved an RPS world record squat of 440 pounds, and a record dead lift of 560 pounds. Those lifts, along with a bench press of 265 pounds set another high mark for total weight lifted, according to a press release. Stan also received the award for “Best Lifter.”
Stan was thrilled, relieved, and a little surprised with what he had accomplished. Following the final dead lift, he remarked, “That was not light!”
