The Martha’s Vineyard cross-country team put in some great performances this weekend at the Eastern Athletic Conference championships. Both the boys and the girls teams finished third in the league meet, held at Borderland State park in Easton on a 5K course.
Medalists in the boys varsity race were: Patrick Best (7th, 17:33); Aivares Gedvilas (8thth, 17:35); Nate D’Angelo (12, 18:00); and Daniel Gaines (15th, 18:28).
Medalists in the girls varsity were: Pearl Vercruysse (9th, 21:24); Julia Neville (10th, 21:40), and Sabrina Reppert (11th, 22:05).
Seniors Josh Boucher, Ethan Lefebvre, Serogia Bernier, Justice Yennie, Evan Kristal, Nic Termini, and Kevin Montambault were honored for Senior Day after the meet against Barnstable last Wednesday. Personal bests were run by Nic Termini and Evan Kristal. The girls did not compete, but seniors Julia Neville, Willow Wunsch, Kathryn Reid, and Sabrina Reppert were also recognized.
In keeping with tradition, parents presented the runners with flowers after the tournament was completed.
