The Vineyard Conservation Society winter walks series kicks off in Aquinnah at the Gay Head Cliffs on Saturday, November 22. Local experts will discuss land use, geologic history, and the designation of the Cliffs as a national landmark in 1965. For parking, look for VCS signs and yellow flags on the left while driving up Moshup Trail. RSVP at 508-693-9588 or info@vineyardconservation.org. The walk is free. In January the group will visit Katama Farm (today the home of the FARM Institute), which was preserved in the 1970s as a town treasure. All winter walks start at 1pm and are about 1.5 to 2 hours long, followed by cider and cookies. After November’s trip to the Cliffs, walks resume their regular schedule of the second Sunday of the month. Find more information on at vineyardconservation.org.
