To the Editor:
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will sponsor a free education course for families of people diagnosed with a serious mental illness. Taught by two trained family member volunteers, the course is intended to help family caregivers cope with a close relative’s mental illness. The 12 weekly two and a half hour classes begin Tuesday, January 6, and go through March 24, 6:30–9pm.
Caring for someone who suffers from a mental illness can be very challenging. This course offers resources and support which can make all the difference in how people cope with their caregiving role. It was tremendously helpful to me at a time when I felt overwhelmed.
