Dukes County is teaming up with the South Shore Community Action Council, the Island’s designated fuel-assistance agency, to offer fuel assistance January to April.
“When it is this cold outside, no one should have to worry about how to get help, if they qualify for fuel assistance,” Martina Thornton, Dukes County manager, said.
Application assistance for Islanders up to 59 years old is available by appointment Fridays, 12 pm to 4 pm, at the county administration building on Airport Road, at the entrance to the Martha’s Vineyard Airport. People who are 60 or more years old can apply at their local Council on Aging, she said. Call 508-696-3843 to make an appointment, or contact mvfuelassistance@gmail.com.
