The Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club announced the cancellation of the 18th annual Martha’s Vineyard 20 Miler & Amity Island Relay, originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14. Runners were notified by email on Monday.
According to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club, the decision to cancel was in the best interest of runner, volunteer, and public safety, given that existing conditions have rendered bike paths and roadsides throughout the course unsafe, and in parts impassable due to snow and ice buildup.
The event serves as an annual fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club, and typically includes a road race from Vineyard Haven Harbor through Oak Bluffs, along with postrace festivities, including live music and food.
