Edgartown School students packed the gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 12, to cheer on their classmates as they competed in the annual Edgartown School spelling bee. The competitors were Daniel Serpa, Hannah Tate-Arena, Nick Reed, Sara Creato, Eli Gunderson, Madeline Chronister, Molly Pogue, Spencer Pogue, Victoria Scott, and Ellie Pate. The bee went 23 rounds, and Spencer Pogue emerged the victor, spelling “granulation.” Victoria Scott was runner-up, and Molly Pogue came in third.
On March 13, 2015, Spencer will compete in the Island-Wide Bee at the Performing Arts Center at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. Spencer won the Island-Wide Bee in 2013, and continued on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
