The Alzheimer’s Association will present a workshop on the basic issues of Alzheimer’s and related dementias on Thursday, March 12, from 1 to 3 pm at the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard. The workshop is free and open to the public.

“Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging,” said Paul Raia, vice president of clinical services, Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts and New Hampshire Chapter. “This comprehensive program focuses on obtaining the correct diagnosis, understanding and addressing behavior and communication problems, and finding local resources and support.”

“The Basics” offers information about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, the benefits of early detection, causes and risk factors, treatment, and services offered by the Alzheimer’s Association.
