The Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative will hold a ribbon-cutting celebration at the West Tisbury transfer station on Tuesday, April 28, at 10:45 am to mark the completion of the town’s solar photovoltaic project, located on the West Tisbury capped landfill.

The 708-kilowatt (kW) PV project was made possible through the regional nonprofit energy cooperative, the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative (CVEC), and the hard work of the West Tisbury Energy Committee.

The financial benefit to West Tisbury is estimated to be just over $58,000 by the end of year one, and more than $1,607,000 by the end of year 20, according to a press release.

The rain-or-shine ribbon-cutting ceremony is open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.
