In Gateway Babe Ruth baseball action this past weekend, Vineyard Purple (VP) swept the Bourne Bandits 9-2 and 5-2, to improve their record to 10-4 and move into third place in the varsity division.
A shorthanded Vineyard Gray (VG) team came away with victories over the Fairhaven Blue Devils by a score of 15-5, and the Acushnet Wildcats by a score of 6-2, to improve their record to 11-2.
In Game 1, Jake Howell pitched five scoreless innings to pick up the victory. Hunter Cleary and Jack Sierputoski led the offense with a combined five hits.
In Game 2, pitchers Jared Regan and Jack Sierputoski limited Acushnet to just two hits. Jack struck out eight over the course of four innings, with an assortment of curve balls that had the Acushnet team, and the umpiring crew, in awe.
Vineyard Black (VB) was idle, and their record remains at 10-4.
VB and VG will close out their regular season with home doubleheaders on Saturday, beginning at 9:45 am, and on Sunday at 11 am. VP closes out their regular season with a doubleheader at home on Sunday, beginning at 11 am.
