The First Martha’s Vineyard Community Tennis (MVCT) Pro Am saw amateurs, pros, and locals compete together last Saturday at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs.
A total of 36 amateurs, along with nine local pros and three celebrity pros, took to the courts. Todd Martin, former No. 4 in the world; Tim Mayotte, formerly ranked No. 7 in the world; and Katrina Adams, current president of the USTA and No. 8 in the world in doubles, participated in the event. They later conducted a youth and adult clinic at Vineyard Youth Tennis.
The team-tennis format had the professionals as captains of their team, with 3 amateurs subbing in and out of play. Tyler Owen’s Top Guns defeated Michael Halisky’s Meteors in the finals. Mr. Owen’s team consisted of Kat Roberts, Randy Williams, and Darren Petrucci.
