To the Editor:
I am board president of Women Empowered, an Island nonprofit helping Islanders to help themselves with difficult financial issues or other life skills. On July 28th, Women Empowered held a fabulous party with a silent auction of 67 gorgeous handbags. I would like to acknowledge the generosity of so many Island businesses.
A Gallery donated the space, and various food and package stores made donations. In addition, I would like to give a special shout-out for the generosity of so many small Island shops that donated amazing handbags. I wish I could name them all here. The event was a terrific success, and we plan to make this an annual event. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
