Chilmark: Life on-Island returns to its postseason pace

Congratulations to Aaron and Lindsay - Photo by Valerie Sonnenthal.

Labor Day has passed, schools are open, and life returns to a postseason pace. Apples and acorns are dropping from trees, evenings are cooling down, and we have been lucky to have so many beautiful days to enjoy. Chilmark Softball Season enjoyed a Labor Day morning final game. Wedding season continues, while we must also bid farewell to friends and family returning to their off-Island lives. The Chilmark library and our community will miss Norman Freed, who served as chairman of the board of trustees for 17 years and oversaw the fundraising for, and the renovation and expansion of, our library, besides being active in so many ways integral to Vineyard life. Our hearts go out to his extended family. If you care to make a donation in his honor to the Friends of the Chilmark Library, you can mail a check to P.O. Box 434, Chilmark, MA 02535.
