For the second time in two years, several Coast Guard officers recently called on residents of Windemere for a night of dining and dancing.

After conversation and a dinner provided by Chris Porterfield, manager of the MV Hospital/Windemere Dietary Department, the Coast Guard group danced with several Windemere ladies to music from the 1940’s and ‘50’s played by Jonathan Harris.

The men included Petty Officers Robert Drake, Mark Seawell, Adam Smith, Jerry Tingle and Senior Chief Robert Riemer, who twirled Windemere residents Lorraine O’Callaghan, Betty Immelt and Rita Mae Roberts.

“The residents say it is their favorite event of the year,” said Betsy Burmeister, the recreation therapy director at Windemere. “We hope that the Coast Guard will be willing to visit with us every year.”
