“How to Organize Your Home”: This is something we could all use and is presented next Thursday at 1 pm at the Tisbury Senior Center. Paula Martin, a professional organizer of Women Empowered, will give us tips to plan, process, organize, downsize, and create space to achieve balance and harmony in our home and life. All this, and it’s free. Just register at 508-696-4205.
One way to treasure our island is to create images. Growing up on the island has led Sharon Simonin to find special scenes to share with you. An exhibit of her photographs will be on the lower level of the Vineyard Haven library during regular library hours in October. Sharon is a member of the Martha’s Vineyard Photography Club, which meets at 6 pm on the first Thursday of the month at our library.
A workshop on writing your obituary will be held at the Anchors in Edgartown on four Tuesday afternoons. Susan Klein will lead the process; there is a fee. Call the Edgartown senior center for more.

I want to say thank you to all the helpful folks at the Ocean View, including customers in the parking lot. They waited with me and my husband Donald while the Oak Bluffs EMTs were called last Thursday evening. After dinner celebrating our 54th anniversary, Donald fell between parked cars, breaking a hip. The MV Hospital staff kept him overnight and sent him to Massachusetts General early Friday morning. MGH kept him in the ER most of the day. After he had been stabilized, he was put in room 1216 Ellison, MGH, Boston MA. He was pleased to have a surprise visit from Peter Palches soon after. Unfortunately, a number of breathing issues put off surgery until Monday, so he won’t be home for a while.
Big bunches of birthday balloon wishes go out next Tuesday to Jeff Serusa and Jackie Hunt. Happy birthday to Dylan Jacobs on Wednesday.
Heard on Main Street: Katharine Hepburn said, “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.” Don’t miss all the fun.
