The community build at Niantic Park Playground Project began on Wednesday, and will continue through the weekend. Locals are invited to come out and work together on the Island-inspired playground. From Thursday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 18 there will be three shifts available to volunteers each day: 8 am–12 pm, 12:30 pm–5 pm and 5:30 pm–9 pm.
All skill levels are needed for the community build, from builders to those who can help with food for volunteers, to those who can help with any number of various tasks. Several hundred helping hands are needed. The completed playground will include a replica East Chop Lighthouse, a Steamship boat, and a gingerbread-inspired play structure.
