Matt Cromwell of Edgartown bested 12 challengers to take top honors at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club fall shoot on Sunday. The competition included shooting at a standing deer target and a bull’s-eye target from a distance of 50 yards.
Mike Ferry came in second, and Cooper Gilkes III of Edgartown was third.
On Sunday, Dec. 13, the club will hold its annual Black Powder Shoot from 11 am to 3 pm. The event is open to the public. Both traditional and modern firearms may be used. Prizes will be awarded for both primitive and modern black powder firearms. The club is located on 3rd Street in Edgartown.
