In their first meet of the season, the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School sailing team beat Dennis Yarmouth last week at home, 3-0, in a best-of-five match. “Wind has been a huge issue for us recently — go figure, it’s a sailing team,” Coach Andrew Burr said in an email update to The Times.
The team traveled to St. George’s on Saturday, April 9 and beat Duxbury 3-2, but lost a close one in a match with Cape Cod Academy, 2-1. The team lost to St. George straight up, 2-0. “It was a great display from a completely new varsity team,” Coach Burr said.
The three Vineyard boat crews were Zach Bresnick and Salyn Yancey; Mary Morano and Coltrane Leport; Adam Bilodeau and Elizabeth O’Brien; Greta Gannon, Christian Schmidt, Auguste Pizzano, and Lucas Dutton also rotated in.
