U11 Girls: The U11 girls won their preliminary match against Bourne 3-0. Paige Malowski (2) and Madeline Hall scored goals. Goalie Maggie Best and the defense held their second straight shutout. They head to Mariner Soccer Complex for the semifinals next weekend.
U18 Boys: MV United U18 boys won their first South Coast Soccer League playoff game of the season versus Fall River at home last Saturday in overtime by a score of 4-2. Nevin Wallis had two goals, and Silas Berlin and Miles Jordi each had one. The fourth-seeded MV team travels to the second seed, Nantucket, on Saturday. The winner of that will play in the championship game on Sunday for a spot at the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions, the state championship.
U13 Boys: The boys beat Norton 4-0 to advance to the Division 1 semifinals at Mariner on Saturday.
U11 Boys: The boys tied Norton 2-2, then lost to Nantucket, 11-5, ending their season.
U13 boys: The boys punched their ticket to the semifinals by defeating Norton last Saturday evening. Norton had experienced only one other loss this season, in which MV United eked out a 1-0 nailbiter. Scoring started only seven minutes in when Christopher DaSilva got a goal assisted by Lucas Ries, and the two struck again just before the half. Joshua Dix scored 20 minutes into the second half, and the final nail was a midair volley by Nicolas DePaula on a corner kick from Lucas Goncalves. The team plays this Saturday in Fairhaven for the South Coast Soccer League semifinals at 9:30 am and hopefully a final game at 2:30 pm.
U14 boys: The boys finished in second place in Division 1. They will play in the semifinals on Saturday at Mariner, against Mariner. A trip to the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions is on the line.
