On June 9, the Tisbury School held a Wellness Day for students and staff. According to a press release, there were several activities that had to do with wellness and safety for the students. In addition to participating in Wellness Day, the staff was also able to sign up for biometric screenings with the Cape Cod Municipal Health Group. Thanks to Krystal Rose and her nursing professionals, the staff at the Tisbury School were able to check their cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure, and have their skin screened.

The students participated in many activities throughout the day, including Hip Hop with Rise Vineyard Performing Arts, Martial Arts with Blitz Fitness, Baseball with the Sharks, Boat Safety with the U.S. Coast Guard, Nutrition with the Island Wide Youth Collaborative, Shellfish Education with Dan Martino, Parking Lot Safety with Massachusetts Safe Routes to School, Bike Safety with Officer Ogden, Dance with the Yard, Hockey with Martha’s Vineyard Youth Hockey, Emergency First Aid with Tisbury Emergency Services, and Safety and Awareness with Officer Sherman.

The students were all automatically entered into a raffle to win one of many prizes donated by local businesses. This year three bikes were donated by Martha’s Bikes and the Tisbury Police Association. Brickman’s, the Toy Box, the YMCA, and the Martha’s Vineyard Arena donated over 50 prizes to be raffled off to students.

The highlight of the day is always the Local Lunch that the middle school students help to prepare with Island Grown Schools and the Tisbury School cafeteria staff. All foods are from local sources on Martha’s Vineyard.
