Nothing says summer like sipping wine in a gorgeous setting in Edgartown, and that’s what this guest sommelier summer series is all about at the Terrace at the Charlotte Inn. Being the only Relais & Chateaux property on the Island, the establishment emanates elegance and luxury, but at the same time remains approachable. The wine series takes place (weather permitting) in the Terrace’s garden and patio, a quietly secluded space in downtown Edgartown. As you’re sipping wine, you’ll forget you’re in one of the busiest Island towns. It’s easy to feel transported to a vineyard in France or Italy. This year, Chef Justin Melnick is reviving the series by showcasing some of New England’s best sommeliers paired with his creative cuisine. His off-season travels have inspired new dishes and techniques that he’ll be sharing throughout the guest series.

June 24 and 25, July 22 and 23: Lorenzo Savona of PortaVino. Named Boston’s Best Sommelier by Food and Wine magazine, his discerning palate and creative energy have also earned accolades from Wine Spectator and Gourmet magazines. Mr. Savona, founder of Boston’s renowned Les Zygomates Wine Bar & Bistro, teams up with Chef Melnick for a spectacular evening of wine and food pairings.
July 29 and 30, August 19 and 20: David Mitchell of Mise Wines. Mr. Mitchell studied European history and served in the U.S. Navy before entering the wine business, and he travels France and Italy in search of artisanal growers who farm organically and sustainably to produce outstanding wines.
August 26 and 27: Andrew Deitz of MS Walker and Thirst Boston. From restaurants to retail, Mr. Deitz’s enthusiasm for spirits inspired him to found Thirst Boston, an annual festival featuring 50-plus cocktail events. Tap his knowledge — he’s always on trend.
