The second annual Martha’s Vineyard Community Tennis (MVCT) Pro Am will be held at Farm Neck on Saturday, August 20.
Four former top touring professionals will participate, according to a press release. Jimmy Arias, whose highest ranking was No. 5 in the world, will return to the Vineyard where he has played numerous exhibitions. Jimmy can also be seen on ESPN and the Tennis Channel. Tim Mayotte, formerly No. 7 in the world, will return for the second year and is from Springfield. Tim Wilkison, formerly ranked No. 23 in the world, has wins over Agassi, Sampras, McEnroe and Courier. Gigi Fernandez was number one in the world in doubles and has 17 Grand Slam titles.
The event will feature a team of three amateurs and one assigned local professional or past touring professional. Teams and their pro/captains will be introduced at the “Reveal Party” held at Farm Neck Golf Club the night before. For a $150 registration fee all participants are guaranteed a spot in the pro-am and two tickets to the party the night before, according to a press release.
