On Sunday The Vineyard over 40’s continued to keep the pressure on first place Milton United. The Vineyard overcame a stubborn Raynham team 4-0. In a scrappy first half, both teams struggled to open up the oppositions defense but The first goal came close to half time when new signing Generci Pena scored his first goal in the Vineyard colors.
After the break, the Vineyard took control of the game. Daniel Larson was a rock in the center of defense for the Vineyard. A second goal was scored when Reinaldo Laurindo danced his way through the Raynham defense. This was his seventh of the season.
Mocair DeSouza scored the third goal with a screaming shot from long distance, which sailed past the goalkeeper into the top corner of the net. Generci Pena added his second of the day to complete a satisfactory day for the Vineyard.
Over Columbus Day weekend, Milton dropped two points when they could only manage to tie with their opponents. The Vineyard received all three points when their opposing team forfeited the game. This leaves the Vineyard just one point behind the leaders. Next up for the Vineyard is a game in Bourne against Dover-Sherborn Masters.
