There was a head-on collision at about 10:30 am on Friday on Edgartown Vineyard Haven Road, near the entrance of Goodale Construction Co. in Oak Bluffs. One driver was taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, and one driver refused treatment.

Lieutenant Tim Williamson of the Oak Bluffs Police Department told The Times that both speed and weather conditions were a factor.

On North Road in Chilmark, there was a single car accident. The driver did not appear to be injured when West Tisbury police arrived at the scene.

Winter Storm Helena is anticipated to bring anywhere from six inches to a foot of snow to the Cape and Islands. The storm will shift offshore on Friday afternoon, and another round of snow can be expected Friday night. Snow will continue Saturday night in southeast New England, with strong north to northeast winds.
