On Tuesday, the Martha’s Vineyard High School girls and boys swim teams visited a strong Apponequet squad. The girls lost 98-54 and the boys were defeated 98-35.
For the girls, co-captain Renee Goodale won her two individual events. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:30.39 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.60. All three Vineyard relays took second place; the 200-yard Medley Relay (co-captain Lucy Thompson, Renee Goodale, Salyn Yancey, and Jillian Pyden), the 200-yard freestyle relay (Renee Goodale, Abigail Hammarlund, Salyn Yancey, and Jillian Pyden), and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Gabby Wilbur, Jillian Pyden, Lila Norris, and Abigail Hammarlund).
For the boys, Harrison Dorr took the only second place with a 2:27.30 in the 200-yard individual medley.
The swimmers have their last home meets on Saturday, Jan. 28, against Nauset, and Tuesday, Jan. 31, against Bishop Feehan. They finish their season with a meet at Coyle Cassidy on Thursday, Feb. 2, and the Eastern Athletic Conference Championships on Friday, Feb. 3, at UMass Dartmouth.
