To the Editor:
I was encouraged to read the article about eighty-some-odd people from West Tisbury showing up at the West Tisbury library to learn about town government. As an elected official in my town for the past 10 years, I can attest to what a rewarding and gratifying endeavor it is. I assume most, if not all of the participants in the meeting have love for their town and believe in the value of community. That is why I would like to ask any of them, and/or anyone else, how they can justify their town’s exclusionary policies at Lambert’s Cove Beach, a West Tisbury town park. Or maybe I can ask someone from West Tisbury to say, This policy doesn’t represent my community, and is wrong. I look forward to any constructive debate on this matter; end beach apartheid.
