Two towns fight fire in Edgartown

Four trucks from Edgartown and Oak Bluffs responded to a house fire at 17 Crafts Field Way in Edgartown on Thursday afternoon.

Approximately 12 firefighters found flames shooting out of windows when they arrived at 3:40 pm, but they contained the blaze within 15 minutes, Edgartown’s assistant fire chief, Andrew Kelley, told The Times.

Neighbors reported that the house had been purchased last spring by the LaFleche family. Peter Shemeth, Edgartown fire chief, told The Times that the owners visit only in the summer, and were not in the home at the time.

West Tisbury provided station coverage for Oak Bluffs and Edgartown firefighters, who were on their way back to their stations by 4:40 pm.
