Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School will be holding its second annual Spring Fling on Saturday, March 18, at 6 pm at the P.A. Club in Oak Bluffs to help raise funds for the school.
According to a press release, there will be live and silent auctions featuring an impressive range of goods and services from on- and off-Island supporters: summer camps, basketball tickets, fine dining, date nights, spa days, garden planning, getaways, and more. There will be live music by the Dock Street Band, hearty appetizers by local Islanders, and delicious desserts from Cakes by Liz.
All proceeds will go toward one of the Charter School’s proudest programs: Project Period, a two-week session twice a year where fifth through 12th graders work side by side in groups, focusing on interests such as outdoor education, international film, astronomy, portfolio building, or cooking. Together they research, plan, and organize excursions to explore their passions, and come home to proudly present their work to their fellow schoolmates, teachers, and parents. Lifelong memories and pivotal experiences are a direct result of this student-focused, cornerstone Charter School program, as old as the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School itself — 20 years.
Tickets are $10, and can purchased at Alley’s, Waterside Market, Tony’s Market, online at eventbrite.com and at the door on the night of the event.
