To the Editor:
The members of the Martha’s Vineyard NAACP would like to respond to the article in the Cape Cod Times regarding insensitive remarks made by State Representative Dylan Fernandes.
As a branch, we acknowledge those remarks and accept his apology.
He is now a member of the Martha’s Vineyard branch of the NAACP.
We are a smaller branch, with a membership of 328 members, but our vision and integrity are equal to that of our national offices.
We welcome the opportunity to work with Mr. Fernandes and the Island community toward our mission to promote an inclusive environment that embraces, respects, and values the diversity in the Island community.
