According to a spokesman from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the two Martha’s Vineyard residents taken into custody earlier this month are Wilkeson Silva Moreira and Marcelo Fernandes Frias.

Mr. Moreira was taken into federal custody on March 7, after he was apprehended in Tisbury as a person who overstayed a lawful visit by nearly two years. He will remain in ICE custody in Bristol County, pending removal proceedings.

Mr. Frias is also in ICE custody in Bristol County. He has a prior OUI conviction, and was previously removed from the U.S. in 2005. He was apprehended in Oak Bluffs on March 9, and will remain in ICE custody pending reinstatement of his prior removal order.
