The first rite of spring in Aquinnah is happening this Sunday: the Easter egg hunt at the Duck Inn. The theme of the hunt this year is the Wonder of Trees. The hunt will be on April 16 at 1 pm. Bring a dish or a sweet to share, put on your Easter bonnet and get your kids ready to search for the golden egg. Thank you to the Martha’s Vineyard Cultural Council, which is supporting the egg hunt this year.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidate forum prior to the town elections. The Island Food Pantry at the Old Stone Church in Vineyard Haven is going to remain open through the summer for the first time. This week it will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Starting next week, it will continue to provide groceries for those in need every Wednesday from 3 to 6 pm until three-day service resumes in the fall. They appreciate everyone continuing to contribute to the Purple Boxes located in libraries, grocery stores, and places of worship. Without donations and those contributions, supplies would be very limited. While I am glad that it will be open through the summer and that people who need food here on the Island can get it, it makes me sad that there is such a need for it. Please keep the donations coming, they feed Island families.
Happy birthday to Lexie Roth, who celebrates on Friday. Lexie will be celebrating her birthday by performing with her father, Arlen Roth, at the Lilypad in Inman Square, Cambridge, at 10 pm. Happy birthday also to another musician and poet, Carole Vandal, who celebrates her birthday on Easter Sunday.
