Vineyard baseball falls to Dolphins

Dennis-Yarmouth scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 3-1 non-league win over visiting Martha’s Vineyard, Friday in South Yarmouth.

The Vineyarders banged out 10 hits, but Dolphins pitcher Charlie McCaffrey earned the complete game win.

Elias Fhagen-Smith doubled in the fifth inning to score the Vineyard run, following Sam Bresnick’s leadoff single, a single by Tabor Caron, and a sac bunt by Jonas Lukowitz.

Lukowitz was the tough-luck losing pitcher for MV, giving up three runs on five hits, with three Ks, two walks, and three hit batters in five innings.

Elias Fhagen-Smith finished 2-4 in the game, with a single, double, and an RBI. Aidan Aliberti was 2-3 with a pair of singles, a walk, and a stolen base. Chris Mayhew also went 2-3 with two singles.
