On Wednesday, May 3, there will be a special event at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center: a screening of “The Restorer’s Journey,” a documentary about Jon Wilson, the founder of WoodenBoat Magazine, and a screening of the sailing adventure film “Cape Horn Passage in Schooner WanderBird,” with original 1930s footage of the ship, crew, and the captain and his young family.
According to a press release, Mr. Wilson’s story is a triumphant one, about a man whose journey takes him from troubled beginnings to success and finding purpose and meaning in his life. In conjunction with the film, there will be a Q and A with “Restorer’s Journey” director Oleg Harencar (in person) and Jon Wilson (via Skype), as well as a special guest speaker, Nat Benjamin of Gannon and Benjamin Marine Railway. The event begins at 7:30 pm: $12 general admission, $9 member, $7 child 14 or younger.
