Vineyarders sink Dolphins, win sixth straight on diamond

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) baseball team rolled to a sixth consecutive win, downing the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins 5-1 on Monday at Vineyard Baseball Park in Oak Bluffs.

Starting pitcher Jonas Lukowitz blasted a three-run homer in the second inning and tossed a complete-game gem, allowing two hits, striking out four, and walking two.

The Vineyarders (6-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, and led the rest of the way. Aidan Aliberti doubled to score Elias Fhagen-Smith from first base, and Chris Mayhew followed up with a single to score Aliberti.

MV plays at Somerset Berkley in an Eastern Athletic Conference contest on May 3, and hosts Bourne in non-league play on May 6.
