Many to thank for Memorial Day

To the Editor:

I would like to thank all the people who helped to make Memorial Day a special day of remembrance for our fallen comrades. There are so many people who come forward to help and need to be recognized.

Tisbury Legion Pumper crew David Kann and Walter Burke, for cleaning out the flagpole holders in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Legion, Auxiliary, and SAL members for all their hard work in the kitchen: Carrie Welch, Bertie Madeiras, Janet Hefler, Phyllis Williams, Kim and James Burke, and Brian Murphy.

The M.V. Bible Church and David LaRue for setting up the Legion Hall. The Tisbury School, Principal John Custer, and instrumental music teacher Julie Schilling, for all their help.

The Tisbury selectmen, Island Fire and Police Departments, Boy and Girl Scouts, U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard, our guest speaker Colonel Virginia Noonan, Chief John Schilling for “Taps,” and past Commander Guppy for all his help.

Anyone I might have missed: Thank you, we couldn’t have done it without you.
