Serving Hands will distribute food from the Greater Boston Food Bank on June 23 from 2 to 4 pm at First Baptist Church on Spring Street in Vineyard Haven as part of Serving Hands monthly food distribution program for Island residents in need of food assistance.

There will be fresh produce, fresh or frozen meats, eggs, milk, and other staples, Betty Burton said in a conversation with The Times. Ms. Burton is president of the Vineyard Committee on Hunger and director of Serving Hands.

There will also be a table with items for people to chose from, and a table with snack items for families with children.

People should bring their MassHealth card, food pantry card, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) card.

Serving Hands operates under the Vineyard Committee on Hunger, a nonprofit organization that seeks to alleviate hunger on the Island through self-help initiatives and raising awareness.

The organization will also distribute fresh produce every Friday from 12 to 1 pm, beginning on June 30. They will also have a table with snacks for children while students are on summer vacation.
