Martha’s Vineyard Excursions, LLC, an Oak Bluffs tour bus company whose registered agent, Susan Bennett, criticized competitor Oak Bluffs Land and Wharf Co. at a recent Oak Bluffs selectmen’s meeting for parking infractions and other violations, was deemed in violation of its license to operate in Chilmark by town executive secretary Tim Carroll for parking and driving in areas of Menemsha forbidden to tour bus operators.

Mr. Carroll told Chilmark selectmen at their meeting Tuesday that he’d drafted a letter to the company’s manager, Mark Leith. The letter stated that the tour company violated its street license in Chilmark, and that if it continued to do so, the selectmen would be forced to hold a revocation hearing. Mr. Carroll produced photographic evidence of Martha’s Vineyard Excursion vehicles situated illegally. Mr. Carroll also said a company called Homegrown Tours has been operating in Menemsha with no license.
