A colorful gathering took place at Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, June 30. Two Fridays a month, the Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club comes to assist residents in arranging flower bouquets for their rooms as part of their monthly community outreach activity.

The group was a happy bunch, eyeing this month’s Donaroma’s donation, a large assortment of diverse flowers, with varying colors and sizes. Joan Eville, the chairwoman of the Garden Club’s Windemere Committee, along with two other volunteers, showed off roses, daisies, sunflowers, and much more to the residents, who personalized bouquets to their liking. They filled plastic vases donated by the Vineyard Haven Thrift Shop with their floral arrangements to later place in their rooms for decoration.

Thinking about stocking up on flowers from your local nursery this summer? You’d be surprised how much a few flowers can brighten up a room.
