Could the weather have been more perfect?
Thousands of Islanders and visitors lined the streets of Edgartown for the annual Fourth of July parade. Marchers started on the West Tisbury Road near Pinehurst Street at 5 pm, and followed a route down Main Street to Pease’s Point Way, back to North Water Street, and up Main Street, passing the Old Whaling Church, where picnickers feasted on burgers and hot dogs.
Later in the night, the Fourth of July fireworks display lit up the harbor with a spectacular display.
Elsewhere on-Island, Aquinnah residents decked in red, white, and blue paraded down Old South Road to Philbin Beach. This year, the town was able to utilize a new boardwalk to the beach after the festivities, where people enjoyed a dip in the water and some sandy fun.
