On Sunday, Oct. 1, from 1 to 2:30 pm at the Howes House (in front of the West Tisbury library), Voter Choice MV will host Voter Choice Massachusetts guest speaker Nathan Lockwood, to discuss and organize for the nonpartisan ranked-choice voting (RCV) ballot initiative, which aims to empower all voters with more ability to express their choices of election candidates. According to a press release, RCV allows all voters to rank their choice of candidates, allowing for an authentic majority winner to emerge, while respecting diverse options and avoiding “spoilers” and “lesser-of-two-evils” negative voting. RCV is used successfully around the world, and Maine recently became the first state to pass this nonpartisan election reform.
