Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard is pleased to welcome two new members to its board of directors.
According to a press release, Dr. Robert Sarno is a former professor (now emeritus professor) of radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, and former dean of admissions. Dr. Sarno practiced as chief of diagnostic imaging at Tufts Medical Center. His wife, Dr. Deborah Hall, provided over 20 years of interpretive and interventional mammographic services at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Dr. Sarno is a 40-year (first summer, now full-time) resident of the Vineyard.
The Rev. Sharon Eckhardt enjoyed a 25-year career as a social worker before becoming a minister. She spent most of her career in community human services program planning and implementation. She also worked with women who were victims of sexual assault and with children who were removed from home because of abuse or neglect. The Rev. Eckhardt was ordained as a minister in the Lutheran (ELCA) Church in 2003. After her retirement in 2015, she and her husband moved to Vineyard Haven. She served for a year as interim minister at the Federated Church, Edgartown. She hopes to bring her social work and pastoral experiences to the Hospice board.
