The Bishop Stang Spartans pulled out a 3-1 win over Martha’s Vineyard in an Eastern Athletic Conference game Friday at Vineyard Baseball Park in Oak Bluffs.
Jack Sefrino pitched a complete game for the Spartans to win a pitcher’s duel with Vineyarder Jack Sierputoski, who worked 5⅔ innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, while striking out two and walking four.
Jeremy Regan put the Vineyarders on the board with a sac-fly in the third inning. The 1-0 lead stood until the top of the sixth, when Stang’s Zac Genovezos cleared the bases with a line drive to deep center.
Sam Bresnick came on in relief and pitched a solid inning and a third, giving up only one hit, with two Ks and a walk. He also helped the Vineyarders at the plate, going three for four with two singles and a double.
The Vineyarders host the Nantucket Whalers in a doubleheader on Sunday. The games are scheduled to start at 12:30 and 2:30 pm.
