Every year, Mass Audubon hosts an annual Bird-a-Thon, where birding teams across the state compete to see and hear the most bird species in 24 hours. Felix Neck, Mass Audubon’s Wildlife Refuge in Edgartown, will compete from Friday, May 11, to Saturday, May 12. Their team of eight has a donation page, and they’re raising money to support the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us, according to their donation page.
“We believe in the importance of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife,” their statement said. “We support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy.”
The Ritz is part of the cause this year, and on Saturday night, they’re hosting a party starting at 6 pm. Compare the species you saw and heard, and enjoy face painting, a raffle, and live music, starting at 7 pm.
Musical guests include Electric Pie, Brothers McMahon, Auntie Em and the Bedspins, the Black Eyed Susan’s, Rose Guerin, Willy Mason, and more. There’s a suggested $5 donation at the door.
Join the state’s largest nature conservation nonprofit, and support a meaningful Island cause.
